Stay-in-school Lunch Program

AOG World Relief, Vietnam: Kelvin and Bek Windsor, along with the amazing AOGWR Vietnam Team, are working with students and their families located in rural communities to improve their educational experience and bolster their nutrition status as well.

For many students in more rural parts of Central Vietnam, they often have to travel substantial distances to and from school, either walking or riding a bicycle, and typically independent of their parents who have already gone to work for the day. This trip is doubled when they travel home for their lunch break and midday nap. More often than not, the students do not return to school after their lunch and nap due to being too tired from the journey. This means they are only getting half the educational experience they deserve and relying on there being food at home to eat at lunch.

In partnership with parents, teachers, and local schools, we plan to support two new Stay-In-School Lunch Programs. By establishing school-based fully-equipped kitchens, each student will enjoy a nutritious and balanced hot meal daily which will fuel their bodies and minds. More than just a kitchen or a meal, these programs solve a myriad of problems and break down the barriers that stop many children in our part of Vietnam from maximising their learning opportunities. These programs are not just an immediate solve, but a long-term strategy that benefits both current and future students for years to come.

Each Stay-In-School Lunch Program costs A$5,000. Our faith goal is to raise funds to provide two schools with this amazing opportunity, thus the total cost of this project is A$10,000. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
