Children In Families - Disability Family Support
CHILDREN IN FAMILIES, CAMBODIA: Our ABLE project is an umbrella project that works with children across all of our family-based care programs. No matter a child’s living situation, if they have a disability or a serious illness, our ABLE staff provide them with follow-up and therapeutic care.
They also provide training to our carers and families so that children receive the support they need daily, not just when our staff come to visit. We have seen some wonderful cases of improvement and development in children with profound difficulties.
Income insecurity often contributes to the breakdown of the family unit, with reduced resources to provide for the children’s nutrition, education and wellbeing. In many village settings agricultural options are available to supplement a families income and food sources.
This project will fund a mix of the following activities:
● Therapy Mats (set of 4): $120
● Wheel Chair: $130
● Agricultural Income Generation (Chicken farm start up and support): $400
● Therapeutic Care Worker (6 children per month): $400
$4200 can fund key ABLE project costs providing support to 12 children and their families.
