Opportunities for Children Living with Disabilities
CHILDREN IN FAMILIES, CAMBODIA: Children In Families is a local NGO based in Cambodia with a mission to equip and strengthen families and communities to provide a nurturing environment for children, through family-based care, community development and educational support.
The ABLE program works with children across all of CIF’s family-based care programs who have a disability or chronic illness. These children are provided with therapeutic care and follow-up and training is provided to carers and families so that children receive the support they need daily, not just when CIF staff come to visit.
Children with disabilities are at a much greater risk of being placed in orphanages where they are more vulnerable to the potential dangers and negative effects of institutional care. ABLE ensures that these children can grow up in loving family homes.
$14 445 can fund key ABLE project costs for a whole year, providing support to an estimated 70 children and their families.
This includes medical costs, food, nutritional supplements, child-care items, training costs, equipment and materials, repairs and maintenance, child transport, and follow up costs. This project is tax deductible.
