Kurdish Family Outreach Centre
MATT AND REBEKAH, GEORGIA:
The Kurds are a large unreached people spread across a number of countries in this region, including Iraq, Turkey, Iran and Azerbaijan.
We lead a part-time school for women and children that are part of the muslim Kurdish community of Georgia. Children who have a lifestyle of begging come to receive education that is accessible to them, as well as emotional and spiritual support. These families have a history of generations of begging, where the children are not sent to school but are largely responsible for bringing money home for the family.
Our school is a long-term intervention strategy aimed at both children and their parents. We offer women’s literacy classes; we visit with the men in their homes; and we regularly share truth with all of them through biblical storytelling. We recently had one woman and one child commit to following Jesus.
It is vital for this ministry that we have our own ministry centre to run the program in as these kids are extremely marginalised within this culture. We rent a location in central Batumi and need $16,500 to keep the centre running for 2023-24.
Matt & Rebekah need $16,500 to keep their centre running for 2023, and to be able to better help those who come.
Note: Gifts to this project are not tax deductible.
